Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Phillip Kraus #2368 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Consistent Pacing with a Winning Spirit Phillip Kraus raced an impressive half marathon at the 2025 Vacation Races | Zion, maintaining a consistent pace throughout. Starting strong at a pace of 7:07 min/mile for the first mile, Phillip held his ground, completing several splits near this same pace. Among his notable achievements was clinching the top spot in his M25-29 division for the first 11 miles—now that's how you make an entrance! In the final miles, Phillip showed tenacity, closing the race with an overall time of 1:37:09, an average pace of 7:25 min/mile. It's worth highlighting his presence in the top 10 for gender-specific placements and maintaining competitive positioning in his division for much of the event. Perhaps a bit of focus on conserving energy in those middle miles could lead to a formidable finish in future races! Keep up the great work, Phillip!
