Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Wojciech Konopnicki #1436 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Consistent Pacing with a Strong Finish Wojciech Konopnicki maintained impressive consistency across his half marathon splits. Starting with an 8:36 min/mile pace for the first two miles, Wojciech kept his times steady, only slightly dipping into the 9:01 min/mile range by the fourth mile. His pacing showed a common runner's trend with minor slowing in the mid-race before gaining a stronger finish at 9:01 min/mile in the final mile. His final timing was 1:59:36, with an overall average pace of 9:07 min/mile. Hitting the top 10 in his age group, Wojciech demonstrated resilience amidst competition. While he held steady in the top tier of his division throughout the race, there is a potential to shave down those mile times. A bit more focus on split consistency through the second half might be key. As Ted Lasso would say, keep the belief and add a sprinkle of confidence, and you’ll be running even faster than a greyhound!
