Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: David Lachtman #1437 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Consistently Smooth and Steady Run David from San Diego ran a fantastic half marathon, setting a strong pace right out of the gate. Covering the first mile in 6:30, he maintained speed and consistency throughout the race. By mile three, his pace improved to a brisk 6:20, propelling him into a strong position. Though the later miles saw a slight dip, with mile seven at a 6:46 pace, he admirably regained momentum in the final stretches. David delivered a stellar finish in 1:27:17, maintaining an overall pace of 6:39 per mile. Thanks to his perseverance, he not only solidified his place among the frontrunners but wrapped up impressively as second overall out of 1404 participants. Noting the slower mile at point seven, a focus on sustaining his earlier rhythm could further enhance future performances. Keep up that positive energy, David! You're running like a sunflower reaching towards the sun.
