Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Alex Swapp #1463 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Steady Progress and a Strong Finish Alex Swapp from Draper, UT, showcased commendable perseverance in the 2025 Vacation Races | Zion Half Marathon. Alex maintained a fairly consistent pace throughout, clocking an overall time of 2:50:26 with an average pace of 13:00 min/mile. Despite a slower 6th mile at a pace of 18:38 min/mile, Alex rallied back with quicker splits, including a solid final mile at 11:27 min/mile. That final kick moved him up the ranks, demonstrating resilience and determination. Throughout the race, Alex showed improvement by battling back to 740th place overall out of 1,404 participants. Notably, he positioned 294th in his gender category and 67th in his age division. While maintaining a steady rhythm, Alex might benefit from working on maintaining a consistent pace throughout the entire course to enhance overall personal performance.
