Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Sam Schlaud #1464 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Steady Spirited Performance Sam from Draper, UT ran the 2025 Vacation Races | Zion Half Marathon showing steady determination across splits. She maintained a consistent start with splits ranging from 11:23 to 11:50 min/mile in the first two miles. A slower pace emerged in the third mile at 14:16 min/mile, indicating a phase of readjustment. However, Sam showed resilience by regaining pace around the fifth mile at 11:31 min/mile. The race witnessed varying paces, with notable improvement in the final mile, clocking an impressive 12:19 min/mile. She concluded the half marathon with an overall time of 2:51:25, covering the 13.1 miles at an average pace of 13:05 min/mile.
