Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Jake Firestone #1466 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Finding the Rhythm: Consistent Splits and Strong Finish Jake Firestone rocked the 2025 Vacation Races Zion Half Marathon with unwavering consistency! Across 13.1 miles, he maintained an overall pace of 9:57 min/mile, finishing the race at 2:10:31. His performance shone bright, standing 149th out of all male competitors and 18th in the M30-34 division, out of a sizable 1,404 participants. He started strong with a 9:50 mile and showed impressive pacing improvements with splits as fast as 9:36 in the latter miles. Jake hit his stride between miles 5 and 9, climbing from 380th to 299th place, showing mental resilience! His ability to maintain consistency is commendable, as slight variations in pacing reveal a strategic approach to energy management. Throughout the race, Jake exhibited great control. For future training, he could focus on maintaining speed in the final miles to keep that momentum going right to the finish line. Keep it up, Jake!
