Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Landon McArthur #1595 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Consistency and Tenacity Define the Race Landon McArthur ventured from San Jose to tackle the Zion half marathon with commendable consistency. He kicked things off with a 10:06 min/mile, showcasing a solid start in the first mile. While there were some fluctuations, particularly in the third mile with an 11:57 pace, Landon made a fantastic course correction by mile four, racing at a brisk 10:00 min/mile. Notably, his pace oscillated between 10:00 and 10:36 min/mile for the majority of the race, closing with a final mile at a steady 10:05. Mid-race presented a few challenges, but Landon demonstrated remarkable determination, particularly in the latter half, improving from 549th to 370th place overall. His final time of 2:17:12 and 10:28 average pace reflect a consistent strategy throughout the run. While maintaining pace consistency is great, exploring ways to slightly reduce lap-to-lap variance could enhance future performances. Overall, an admirable race from this dedicated member of Team Camp!
