Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Krystyna Greczek #1919 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Consistent Pace with a Strong Finish Krystyna set off from Hickory Hills, IL, to compete in the 2025 Vacation Races at Zion's Half Marathon, representing Team Biegosze. Starting with an impressive 10:22 pace in the first mile, Krystyna maintained a consistent rhythm throughout, hitting a steady stride for the first half. Her splits hovered around the 10:30 to 10:48 mark up until the 5-mile mark—an excellent start demonstrating her consistent pacing abilities. In the latter half of the race, there was a slight drop in momentum, with splits extending to just over 11 minutes per mile, culminating in a total time of 2:32:51. It is noteworthy that her overall pace was just 11:40 min/mile, placing 16th in her division out of approximately 1404 participants. There was a noticeable dedication to maintaining an even pace, though aiming for a little less fade in the back half could yield stronger results next time. Keep that up, Krystyna!
