Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Erin Buchanan #2095 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Steady Progress and a Strong Finish Erin Buchanan from New Fairfield, CT, ran a commendable race at the 2025 Vacation Races in Zion. With each mile, Erin demonstrated a splendid upward trajectory. Her performance began with a steady pace of 7:58 min/mile for the first mile, eventually quickening to a promising 7:35 min/mile by the third mile. She maintained a consistently brisk average pace of 7:48 min/mile by the end of the race. Erin displayed great determination, moving up from 17th in her gender category after the first mile to finish 6th by the end. By the halfway mark, Erin had already claimed the lead in her division (F30-34), a position she confidently held onto until the finish line. Finishing the half marathon in 1:42:14, Erin secured the top position in her age division while placing 6th among female runners, exemplifying her stellar endurance and pacing strategy.
