Date: March 1, 2025 Participant: Raquel Zeleznick #2342 Race: 2025 VR Zion Half Marathon Distance: 13.1 miles Weather: Cool. Perfect running conditions, except for the 21 mph head wind. Partly cloudy Course: Beautiful views of Cable Mountain as runners entered the finish. Steady uphill with a few big climbs, with a net elevation gain of nearly 500 feet.

Strong Start and Consistent Effort Raquel tackled the race with a consistent and commendable effort. She started strong, completing the first mile with a pace of 10:07 min/mile, placing well within her division. Her steady pace was impressive as she maintained close to 10-minute paces through the first half of the race, demonstrating her ability to keep the momentum going. Notably, her fastest split was at mile 5 with a time of 10:11, showing she had the capability of maintaining speed later into the race as well. In the latter half, Raquel paced herself strategically, finishing with a total race time of 2:27:31, translating to an average pace of 11:15 min/mile. Her finishing place in the division, 26th out of many enthusiastic racers, was a solid achievement. Going forward, a focus on maintaining the initial pace in the later miles could enhance her overall performance further. Raquel should feel proud of the resilience and spirit she displayed throughout the race. Keep up the hard work, the rewards will follow!
