Things To Do: Mt Charleston

There are hikes for all abilities and distances near Mt Charleston, but if you want a short (1.5 miles one way) hike to see great views of the course, you have got to do Cathedral Rock. The trail starts right near the full marathon start. It climbs about 1000ft, so it is strenuous, but nothing that you couldn't handle the days before or after a marathon. Afterward treat yourself to a post-hike meal at the Mt Charleston Lodge and make sure to tell them you are doing the half or full marathon.

To plan your Mt Charleston visit, check out the Go Mt Charleston website.

Sponsor Highlight

REVEL's Marathon & Half Hydration is provided by POWERADE. Thank you for providing the fuel to power through.

Participant Highlight

Congratulations to Grant Nesbitt for winning the HOKA One One Boston Sweepstakes! Grant crushed the Big Cottonwood course with a 3:19:10 BQ and will receive one roundtrip ticket to Boston and a 3-night stay. Grant came off a torn plantar fascia injury 5 years ago. During his recovery he tried every shoe he could find only to be left with shooting pain. It wasn't until his friend introduced him to HOKA's that he realized he had a chance to run again. After pain free running, Grant was back to doing what he loved!

Random Race Entry Giveaway

We want everyone to have an enjoyable and SAFE race, so we would like to remind you that all runners must stay to the right of the cones during the entire race.

The Mt Lemmon Highway is one of the most beautiful areas in the world, but there are many blind turns, narrow shoulders, and other hazards. For your safety, any runners who leave the right lane at any point will be subject to disqualification.

Be safe and enjoy the race!

Race week is finally here for REVEL Mt Lemmon! Stay tuned as we pass along a few more updates this week. All questions can also be answered via our Participant Guide or Race Info page.

PARTICIPANT TRACKING

Your friends and family can track your progress as you pass timing checkpoints along the course. They can also sign up to receive text alerts each time you cross a timing checkpoint. Your personalized link for people to track you is:

https://www.runrevel.com/rml/track

Give this link to your friends and family. This link is also where they can sign up to receive text alerts (or you can sign up for them).

SPECTATORS

Because of special traffic patterns on Mt Lemmon, spectators will not be allowed in the canyon (the first 25 miles of the marathon and the first 12 miles of the half marathon). We suggest that spectators stake out an area at or near the finish venue at Tanque Verde High School to cheer on their runners. Refer your fan club to the courses page of the website site to plot out their desired locations.

Parking is not available at Tanque Verde High School. All spectators and runners must park at La Mariposa Resort and be shuttled to the finish area. Shuttles will run continously from 6:00am to 1:30pm.

Hours

Saturday, November 11: 10:00 am - 6:00 pm

parking & busing

Because REVEL Mt Lemmon is a point-to-point route, we will bus you from the finish parking area to the start line. Your bib is your ticket to board a bus. Due to road closures and participant safety all runners must take the buses the morning of the race. You may not park or be dropped off at the start lines.

Race parking is available at La Mariposa Resort 1501 N Houghton Rd, Tucson, AZ 85749

All designated parking is approximately 4 miles from the finish area. There will be shuttles continually running from the designated parking lots to the finish area from 6:00am until 1:00pm for both spectators and runners.

aid stations

The Aid Stations will be equipped with water, Lemon Lime Powerade, restrooms, and basic medical supplies. In addition some aid stations will include Gu Energy Gels, fruit, and medical personnel (see aid station map below). **Any personal belongings dropped on the course will be donated to charity.**

Drop Bags

You will receive a race bag when you pick up your packet at the expo. This bag is for you to take to the starting areas. A number that matches your race bib will be attached to your race bag. This is to identify your bag at the finish area after the race, and you will need your bib to prove ownership of your bag when you pick it up. Please carry any belongings to the starting area in this bag, as opposed to any other personal bags, which cannot be identified by your race number. Bags must be placed in the bag trucks at the starting areas at least 15 minutes prior to the race start.

Important: Ensure your bag is secured tightly and do NOT place personal items or anything that you cannot afford to lose in your bag. REVEL will not be responsible for lost items.

**Any personal belongings dropped at aid stations or anywhere along the course will be donated to charity.**

timing & bibs

The races will be chip-timed using timing tags adhered to the back of your bib. Your time will begin when you cross the starting line and stop when you cross the finish line. Overall prize winners (top 3 in each race) will be determined by gun time, not chip time. Please do not tamper with the timing chips, as they cannot be replaced once linked to your bib number.

Because the timing tag is adhered to the back of your race bib, it is important that you do not cover your bib with clothing or other objects that may interfere with the tag reader when you are crossing the start and finish lines. Furthermore, in order to ensure that race volunteers, officials, and photographers can properly identify you, you must wear your bib on the front of your person in an unobstructed position. If the photographers along the course cannot see your bib number, we will have no way to get your photos to you.

Finish Line Festivities

Once you cross the finish line, stick around and enjoy the exciting atmosphere at the finish. Runners will be greeted with some great food as you celebrate your achievement with friends and family. Check out the vendor booths, get a photo in front of our beautiful backdrops, listen to some great music, give a hand to the rest of the runners coming in, and attend the awards ceremonies to congratulate the winners.
