As runners ourselves we are deeply sorry for today's bus shortage.
For those of you affected, we will be preparing our plan of action shortly. Please accept our sincerest apologies and know that we will do everything in our power to make it right.
Because communication was difficult at the start line, here is recap of what happened. ATS bussing company had committed under contract to provide us 52 buses, which is more than enough to tranport all runners to the start line in a single trip. This is the same company that successfully provided busing for REVEL Rockies last year. In our communication with them the weeks, days, and even morning of the event, they assured us everything was set. We even preformed a pre-race course drive and confirmed numbers with them in the days before the event. The morning of the event, even after hours of waiting, they continued to assure us that the buses were on the way. After the delays reached the point that we realized the buses were not on the way and we could no longer hold the event under the time constraints of our permits, we made the decision to cancel the half marathon.
We take complete responsibility for this disaster and will gladly accept your constructive ideas and criticism as we evaluate and analyze the various options.
