Consistent Early Splits but Need to Maintain Finish Pace David Cunningham, 35, from Santa Barbara, CA, showed strong pacing in the initial segments of the 2025 Mountains 2 Beach Marathon. His splits remained sub-10 minutes per mile for the most part, with notable sub-9:00 minute miles during miles 9 to 12. This demonstrates potential for maintaining a faster pace throughout the race. Maintaining this efficiency through the middle sections contributed to his consistent performance. However, David's pace began to decline after mile 15, with splits over 10:00 minutes per mile, eventually reaching a 12:55 minute mile at mile 20. This slowdown is an area to focus on for the next race. Despite this, David ranked 129th in his division of M35-39, showcasing a respectable finish against a field of 2277 participants.
