Consistent Early Pace, Strategic Elements to Enhance Closing Stamina Jerry Cerda, from Sylmar, CA, tackled the 2025 Mountains 2 Beach Marathon, demonstrating a steady pace in the initial stages of the race. Over the first 6 miles, Jerry maintained an impressive average pace just over 9:10 minutes per mile, reaching his quickest splits between miles 5 and 6 with times of 8:53 minutes per mile. This consistent pacing placed him among the top third for his age group at these distances. The latter part of the marathon saw an increase in mile times, indicating a potential area to fortify endurance. From mile 18 onward, splits extended to over 12 minutes per mile, contributing to an overall finish time of 4:33:36 and an average pace of 10:26 minutes per mile. Jerry placed 125th in his division out of 127 participants, 828th in gender, and 1357th overall. Focusing on endurance and form in the closing miles could benefit future races.
